Trials, activation, and licenses

Start a trial, activate Pro, recover a license, and move to a new computer.

Start a Pro trial

  1. Open Textend → Textend Pro → Trial and license.
  2. Connect to the internet and choose Start 14-day Pro trial. No email, license, or payment details are required.
  3. Once the panel shows an active Pro trial, use the Pro software features. The panel shows the remaining time and end date.

The trial starts when you choose to start it, rather than when you download or install Textend. It never charges automatically. The 14 days run continuously, including while the app is closed. Uninstalling, clearing app data, or reinstalling on the same device does not start a new trial.

Configure your own AI provider, API key, and usage allowance. Pay any usage charges directly to that provider; the trial does not include AI credits.

After the trial ends

Basic editing, opening, saving, undo, recovery, version history, and basic exports remain available. You can still view, accept, reject, and undo existing AI suggestions. Your writing and completed work stay accessible.

New AI writing tasks, professional exports, and decorative images require Pro. Decoration choices and uploaded images are retained; solid color, themes, and typography remain free.

Activate a purchased license

  1. Find your Textend license email in your purchase mailbox and copy the license key. The order reference in a transaction receipt is not a license key.
  2. Open Textend Pro → Trial and license, then expand Already purchased? Activate or recover a license.
  3. Paste the key into License key and choose Activate license while online. An active Pro license status confirms completion.
  4. Repeat on another device with the same key. One license supports up to 3 active devices in total.

No Textend account or password is required. Initial activation needs internet access; after the activation is saved, covered versions work offline. A license key and an AI provider API key serve different purposes; do not enter either in the other field.

Recover a missing license by email

  1. In the purchased-license area of Trial and license, expand the email recovery section.
  2. Enter the email used to purchase Textend Pro and choose Request a recovery code. Check the inbox and spam folder.
  3. Paste the emailed code into Email recovery code and choose Verify recovery. A code expires 15 minutes after the request; avoid repeated requests.
  4. After verification, choose the license you need if you own several, then choose Activate with recovered license within 10 minutes. If that license has no free device slots, deactivate an old device as described below first.

One email can hold several independent licenses. Verify your purchase mailbox and choose one; management and activation apply only to that license. Recovery does not require an order reference, issue a new license, or charge you again. An accepted request does not confirm a purchase exists: ownership is not exposed before mailbox verification.

If you no longer have access to that mailbox, contact support for manual verification. Do not purchase again, publish your license, or send an email password to resolve it.

Move computers or release an unavailable device

  1. If the old computer is accessible, choose Deactivate this device in its Trial and license panel and confirm. Then activate on the new computer.
  2. If the old computer is broken or lost, recover the license through the purchase email on the new computer, then choose Refresh active devices.
  3. Choose the old device, select Deactivate old device, and confirm. Then activate the new computer with the recovered license. This device identifies the current device.

Each license independently covers up to 3 active devices; you do not receive three keys for one purchase. Device slots are managed separately for each license rather than pooled. Device digests identify devices on the server. Reinstalling and activating the same license on the same device does not use an extra slot. Deactivation does not reset its trial dates.

The installation reference in the list is not a computer name. If you cannot identify an old device, contact support rather than guessing. Contact support for hardware changes or identification errors as well.

Deactivation releases the slot and deactivates associated installations without deleting writing. An offline old computer learns of this on its next online verification; remote deactivation does not instantly close an offline copy.

When an internet connection is needed

Initial activation uses the online activation flow. There is no procedure for generating an offline activation file on a website.

  • Starting a trial, initial activation, recovery, refreshing the device list, and deactivation need internet access.
  • A purchased activation that has been successfully saved works offline for covered versions. A temporary network failure does not itself cancel that saved activation.
  • The trial still ends on its original date. If Textend asks to verify trial time online, check the system date and connect to verify; repeated reinstalls are not a remedy.
  • Offline AI depends on the AI service you configure. Pro does not include an offline model.

Troubleshoot activation and recovery

  • Device limit reached for this license: refresh its list and deactivate an unused device before activating. To keep all old devices active, choose another license with a free slot or purchase an additional license.
  • Invalid license: copy the complete Textend license key, rather than an order reference, recovery code, or API key. If needed, recover it through the purchase mailbox.
  • No recovery email: check the purchase email spelling and spam folder, then try later. Avoid repeated requests.
  • Cannot reach the license service: check your network, system date, and the app’s network permissions, then retry later. Keep certificate verification and system security enabled.
  • Cannot save activation: check available disk space and permission to write app data. Keep the error message and contact support; do not delete app data or manuscripts as a first step.
  • License under review, revoked, or outside version coverage: contact support to check the original purchase and app version. Avoid repeated payments. A 1.x license does not automatically cover 2.x.

What to include when contacting support

Email the purchase address if applicable, Textend version, operating system, steps, and a redacted error message. Include an order reference if available; it is not required for license recovery. Do not send email passwords, verification codes, full license keys, API keys, full card numbers, or private writing.
